AC and Heating Repair in Memphis and the Mid-South
No cooling? No heat? Call now. A real person answers 24/7, and our goal is your heating or cooling restored within 24 hours.
Repairs done right, not just done fast
When your air quits in August in Memphis, you want two things: someone who answers the phone, and someone who fixes it so it stays fixed. Griggs HVAC does both. A real person answers our phone 24 hours a day, no-cool and no-heat calls go to the front of the line, and our guarantee is to restore heating or cooling within 24 hours.
We won’t patch it and leave. If a capacitor failed because the contactor is pitted, we tell you. If the unit is low on refrigerant, we find the leak instead of topping it off and scheduling you for the same call next summer. That’s the difference between a repair and a bill.
What we repair
Air conditioners and heat pumps. Not cooling, running constantly, frozen coil, tripping the breaker, outdoor unit not starting.
Furnaces and heating. No heat, short cycling, ignition problems, blower issues, heat pump blowing cold.
Thermostats and controls. Wiring, replacement, and smart thermostat setup.
Refrigerant leaks. Found and fixed, with the system properly recharged. Our technicians are trained on R-454B and R-32 as well as R-410A.
All major brands, any age, whoever installed it. Our trucks carry common parts for the equipment most Mid-South homes have, so many repairs are finished on the first trip.
How a Griggs repair call works
The call
A real person answers, any hour. No-cool and no-heat calls are prioritized, and you get a window and a technician who calls ahead.
The diagnosis
Our $90 service call covers sending a technician, testing the system, and giving you options and prices to repair it the same day.
The repair
The service call is rolled into the price of the repair or replacement if you need one. Most repairs are finished on the first trip.
The guarantee
Every repair carries our 1-year workmanship guarantee. If the same part fails within the year, we come back and make it right.
Still under a manufacturer’s parts warranty? We’ll handle the warranty claim so you only pay for labor.
When a repair takes longer than a day
Most repairs are finished on the first visit. When a part is backordered or the right answer is a replacement, temporary heat and AC is available for repairs and installations that take more than 24 hours, so your family isn’t waiting it out in a hot or cold house.
If the honest answer is that your system isn’t worth repairing, we’ll say so and give you options. We won’t sell you a new system you don’t need, and we won’t sink your money into a unit that’s on its last summer.

AC & heating repair FAQs
My AC stopped working. How fast can Griggs get someone out?
Griggs HVAC offers 24/7 emergency service. Call us any time and a real person will answer the phone, not a recording. We prioritize no-cool and no-heat calls, and if your system needs a part we can’t get same-day, temporary heat and AC is available while you wait. Our goal is to have your heating or cooling restored within 24 hours.
Do you charge a diagnostic fee?
Griggs charges a $90 service call fee to send a technician out, test the system, and give you options and prices to repair your system the same day. That fee is rolled into the pricing of a repair or replacement should you need it, which saves you money and lets us get your system up and running again quickly.
Should I repair my HVAC system or replace it?
A good rule of thumb: if the unit is 15 years old or older and the repair cost is significant, replacement sometimes makes better financial sense, especially with the efficiency and energy savings of newer equipment. Griggs will give you options and a straight answer either way, and we won’t sell you a system you don’t need.
Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling the house?
Common causes are a dirty air filter, a refrigerant leak, a frozen evaporator coil, a failed capacitor on the outdoor unit, and countless other possible issues. In Memphis summers, a system that’s not running at full capacity will struggle most on the hottest, most humid afternoons. Start by checking your filter and thermostat batteries; if that isn’t it, give us a call before a weak part causes more damage.
Why is my heat pump blowing cool air in winter?
Heat pumps naturally deliver air that feels cooler than a gas furnace, around 90 to 100°F, even when working correctly. But if the house isn’t reaching the thermostat setting, the system may be stuck in defrost mode, low on refrigerant, or relying on backup heat strips that have failed. A technician can find the issue and have a solution in one visit.
Do you repair all brands of HVAC equipment?
Yes. Griggs services and repairs all major residential and commercial brands, regardless of who installed the system. Our trucks carry common parts for the most popular equipment in the Mid-South, so many repairs are completed on the first trip. We are also a Trane Comfort Specialist dealer.
Is the repair covered by a warranty?
Repairs performed by Griggs are covered by our 1-year workmanship guarantee. If the same part fails within the year, we come back and make it right. If your system is still under a manufacturer’s parts warranty, we’ll handle the warranty claim so you only pay for labor.
What HVAC problems can I safely check myself before calling?
Confirm the thermostat is set correctly and has fresh batteries, replace a dirty filter, check that the breaker hasn’t tripped, and make sure the outdoor unit isn’t blocked by leaves or debris. If the system still isn’t working, it’s time to call a Griggs technician.
